Are You a Pest Franchisee?
The franchise rep tells us about Franchisees I Don't Like to Visit.
She writes:
"Franchisees I don't like to visit are rare, but there are a few with traits I don't like to be around,1. Franchisees who are "know it alls" and argue with everything I say.
2. Franchisees who think we are all call 24/7.
3. Franchisees who think you should always buy their meal because you have an expense account and because they pay royalties.
4. Franchisees who think they should receive "special attention" because they have my money or think "they have more potential" than someone else. You do not move to head of every list just because you think you should. Every franchise agreement says support will be given as the support person deems necessary."
The fourth point is the most important point - many franchisees don't appreciate the subtle message here.
There are no franchise contracts which give rise to a breach of contract if a given level support is not reached.
The franchisor's obligations for support, other than the opening day, are never obligatory, they are permissive. Check out how many times the term "may" appears describing the franchisor's obligations.
The reality is that if you want support, after the initial training you need to be on excellent terms with your local franchise rep.
Be good to check who that person will be.
