Samantha Maziarz Christmann, writing at the Buffalo News, has an accurate assessment of who is at risk right now from biz op scammers,

"As the economy swirls down the drain and consumer anxiety peaks, work-at-home offers become not just more prevalent, but more enticing, according to local experts.

Once targeting stay-at-home moms, the elderly and people with disabilities, work-at-home and home-based business scams are beginning to tempt members of an increasingly desperate mainstream society at large.

The phony come-ons, offering easy employment for top dollar, are sophisticated and convincing. Hopeful job-seekers, paying "small start-up fees" are getting scammed out of more money than ever before."

One important feature of these scam is the ability of the con criminal to profile the victim and find out what Anthony Praktanis calls an "phantom goal" - a goal which is unreal, but if realized promises to be the end all and be all. The lottery to end all lotteries.

The promise to "work at home" is one of the typical phantom goals - promising to the unemployed that with little or no change in their routine, that they can "have a business". These are wicked promises made by evil people. Do not listen or succumb to these fiends.
