How to Choose a Franchise Broker
Image via Wikipedia
Mark Kaplan, writing at Bestfranchiseinformation.com, has an article about the good, the bad and the downright ugly about franchise brokers.
"If you're looking into Franchising, surely you've tripped over the countless Franchise Broker Companies that are in business to match you with a Franchise.
They go by many names, like FranChoice, FranNet, Franchise Authority, Entrepreneur Source, the Business Alliance, etc -- but they all act in the same general manner.....they help you pick a Franchise.
And for doing that, the Franchise Companies will pay hefty commissions to the Franchise Brokers.
But here's the critical question: Will a Franchise Broker match you up with a Franchise in a way that primarily benefits YOU, or in a way that primarily benefits the Franchise Broker?
The only way you can know that is to fully understand how the process works, and I can help you do that. Just read on about "Franchise Brokers - the Good, the Bad & the Ugly"
While this advice sounds reasonable, on reflection which is harder to do: to learn about an industry, whether it is franchisable, and read an Franchise Disclsoure Document, or to figure out whether a franchise broker has learned an industry, figured out whether it was franchisable, read the franchise disclosure document, and has not been paid by the franchisor for his or her referral?
I say: learn on your own, or with expert, or by visiting Blue Mau Mau, the franchisee investment website.

Mark, I hope that they do read your entire article - it was useful. But, I still think that trying to pick a good franchise broker is harder than trying to pick a good franchisor. Maybe if they read your entire article, they will agree with me! But, even if not, it was a useful article for people to read. Hope that I gave that impression to my readers.
