Jerry Reed

Cadillac Motor Car Division

Image via Wikipedia

Jerry Reed passed away today.

He was a much better performer than generally recognized.

In honor of his passing, here is one of ironic songs.

Jerry Reed had a great ear for some of the absurdities of modern life, which he passed on in his country songs.

With only a few words, this 2:30 minute song covers corruption, bribery, and the state monopoly on coercion.

Listen to the end of the song carefully, and then tell me what is wrong with Detroit.

And his famous breakdown with Chet Atkins.

Buy Jerry Reed's records and enjoy!
